AMU - Arquitectura más Urbanismo

As a pedagogical strategy, we seek to foster a condescending interaction between the city and the school, creating a space for the school in the park and the park in the school. This provides an open pedagogical model in which education extends beyond the school building. To achieve this, the school's most public and accessible activities—comprising the auditorium, cafeteria, and CIRE—are located underground around a courtyard, while the primary, secondary, and middle school classrooms are located on levels 2 and 3 in a compact volume. Thus, level 1 houses exclusively the entrance and preschool, making the building permeable and transparent.

The school-park interaction forms a kind of operational "yin-yang" for users, students, and neighbors. Students can use the building during school hours and also carry out outdoor educational activities during their school day. Residents can also access the courtyard, auditorium, cafeteria, and the CIRE (Center for Educational Research) during after-school hours. From the street, both the new building and the park itself are visible. The building is represented by the volume of the primary, secondary, and middle school classrooms, while the park is enhanced by the transparency that allows the cafeteria, library, and CIRE (Center for Educational Research) to be buried underground. With the paths that cross and permeate the building, the park penetrates the school with public pedestrian flows that allow passersby and students to interact visually. Thus, children are going to school as if they were going to the park.
